I almost got another dog yesterday and other news of similar importance( the partially bilingual edition)

  1. Only the dog was a girl and Lily does not like girl dogs that are smaller than her. Lily can be a bit bitchy to them. I couldn’t stand her to be mean to this 4lbs. of chihuahua/doxie adorable mix. I did, however, fall in love. I mean, I have it bad. B-A-D. And let me tell you that she is MUCH cuter in person. My iPhone didn’t do justice to this beige-coloured beauty–and she is a BEAUTY. She has mottled fawn and white colour to her super-soft fur and her personality is perfection. Ugh! I hate that I can’t bring her home but Lily REALLY doesn’t like smaller girl dogs, so much so that I would fear for this beauties life. Lily is a cutey but if you saw how fierce she is when she plays with Mr. Monkey you would understand my fear.
  2. A Sephora and a William Sonoma store have just opened up within walking distance from my house. I am liking Valencia a smidgen more because of this. Access to skincare and a quality skillet makes me feel much more optimistic about this place. That said, I am not planning on becoming a member of the what is awesome about “Awesometown” club. They could put a JCrew in the lobby of my building and I still wouldn’t join that club (well, maybe if they put one in the lobby and they had free delivery and gave me a 20% discount AND offered free alterations).

Happy Birthday, Lily! ( and there are treats for you)

Today Lily is two years old. Instead of blogging, Lily has asked me to put down my MacBook and go for walks and play with Mr. Monkey and feed her treats as part of her b.day celebration. She also asked me to share this video filled with cute Lily photos. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Speaking of treats, while I am off celebrating Lily, I thought you might enjoy the following (I know I have): Continue reading ‘Happy Birthday, Lily! ( and there are treats for you)’

Fifi Flower's Painting of Lily in her dress

When I posted the lovely picture of Lily on Facebook I never expected Fifi to turn it into a perfect painting. Isn’t my girl a gorgeous model? This isn’t Lily’s first portrait by Fifi. She did one of Lily back when she was just a puppy. Merci, Fifi!

I hope your weekend is filled with lovely friends, unexpected surprises, bright coloured blossoms, summer dresses and puppy dog kisses. Lily wishes you treats and tummy rubs.

The love parade

(The first part of this post was written last year and not posted).

“I so miss hope. I miss it like a person. I have some hope but not hope like I had. I don’t think I will ever have that again.” I explained to him.

“Are you thinking a lot about Chicago lately?” Igor asked.

“Not a lot, but we are getting close to  the Fourth of July.”

“The Fourth?” he asked in a way that he reminded me that he was not born in this country.

What I am taking with me to Santa Barbara

Pacifica Graduate School in Santa Barbara. While I am there I am going to see my wise-old-man-crush, James Hillman. Hillman, whose intellect I am seriously hot for, is leading a seminar, “Old and Young” in which he will explore the archetypes of the Puer Aeternus and the Senex. I am as giddy as a school girl and more than a little farklempt at the idea of a weekend with the Hillman.

I thought in my current state of frenzy that it would be best to make a list so I don’t forget anything.

1. Hope, enthusiasm and excitement. I am going to need a big bag. I have a lot of these.
