Haha, I’m now wondering if my lack of interest in high-heeled shoes and my lack of interest in sex/relationships might be linked.

But for me, the symbolism behind the high-heeled shoe is that of hamstringing and hence mutilation and captivity (perhaps brought on by institutionalised sexism that still defines us as sex object first and people a distant second), not of any kind of liberation.

I thought of you when wearing high heels today (a rare event). They require you to stride, stomp, walk like you mean it, and put your foot down. You have to be strong, intentional, and consciously balance strength in the inner/outer legs & down through the ankles. Yang, in other words.

Fascinating thoughts. Some things that occur to me is that with your weight loss, there is less pressure on your feet in heels how with less weight.

Heels make us more equal in height to men. You are wanting that equality and to be taken as seriously as men are more naturally taken.

You want to be seen – height makes us more obvious. You want to be seen by other men (attract attention, flirt etc) renewing your power of being a woman that after years of marriage you weren’t using (as when married you didn’t want to be attracting other men).

I think I agree with Alistair. I think heels are a transitional item helping you boost your confidence. I think you’ll eventually be able to “fly on your own” albeit in a slightly more grounded footwear
While I do hate quick pop psychology explanations, I can’t help but acknowledge the fact that I too used to wear ridiculously high heels, traipsing through cobbled streets in agony. Used to, a long time ago. Now that I am in a satisfying relationship with a person who loves me and accepts me, I no longer feel the need to wear constricting and painful garments to make myself more sexually appealing.

Nice shoes! I injured my back eons ago and have only worn heels for special occasions since then. I overcame my nostalgia many years ago, but once in a while I still take a peek at beautiful shoes like yours.
