I love how patiently Freud sits and waits for me. I wonder what he’ll think of my dress or if he’ll notice that I am not wearing a slip?
These incredible portraits of me shopping and Freud holding the bag are by my brilliant friend, Up and Down Town. She is a writer and editor with experience in fashion journalism & advertising. And if you aren’t following her blog you out to get your head examined!
Thank you again, Up and Down Town. I am a huge fan of your work and I am honored that you did these for me. Love them!

Good pics @Up and Down Town. Love your bag Ruby, looks like the latest season Prada, haha!
… and the robe is a Sonia Rykiel, I believe! Looks perfect on you!
(Nice and amusing blog the Up and Down!)
Oooh, how fabulous! And I wonder how Freud would feel to be tossed into the mix as a designated bag holder?
That is hilarious! (He waits for me, too, but not that patiently.)
(I recognized the painting style the moment I saw the Dr.'s collar/tie/jacket/vest combo.)
Brilliant and yes I need to get over there pronto!
SO cute….love a Dr with a good handbag, xv.
Great post!
up and down town has great talent, and I've been enjoying her work for more than a year now!
How wonderful that she did some custom work for you! These are fantastic.
I love the fluidity of these drawings, and the stripes too!
HA! I LOVE your title!!!
You were very patient.
Thank you for asking in the first place. I won't make you wait so long next time.
(and I really appreciate your kindness.)
And the best part is then you get to have him in your office and ask him how he feels about bag holding, while going "hmmm" because, of course, he'll carry everything back for you.
BWAHHHHHHHH!
ooooo these are too cute! i do pop in on her blog. i learned of her from before from you. her stuff is too cool! love it.
hugs to you me dear!!
I was going to say, this looks like up town down town or something like, why can't I draw
Freud seems quite happy waiting…just FYI, this morning I changed tees three times just to find one that would work and along the way driving I was doing a mental inventory of my shirts…how terrible is that? Uhhh
BTW, you dress in the most feminine way and I love the dress too.
xoxox
These are so wonderful.
These are brilliant, lovely Belette. Fabulous work @UpandDownTown! xx
Fabulous drawing, love it!!
I miss editor! These are terrific.
You always have the coolest friends, Belette. Must get myself acquainted.
OMG – these are AWESOME! What a treat!
XO

Lovely art!
This makes me smile because my husband and I often shop on our date nights, which are rare because we have 4 young kids and hiring a sitter easily doubles our expenses (but is worth it).
So my husband usually tries on 1-2 things and then there I am with 20+ shirts, dresses, pants, skirts. And still, he is patient and waits.
PS: Went to H&M; earlier this week & bought 2 new tops. I love clothes almost as much as chocolate.
I love Up and Down Town's blog too — and these sketches are such fun!
That would make a great graphic novel for people who don't like stories about magicians and superheroes.
Maybe you will not only write a book but inspire one?
xx
How clever.. content and execution.. just love these picture.. will head over to see her blog now.. .have a great easter.. xx Julie
hahahaha this is SO great!
I love Freud's face, looking a bit to the side, seeming a bit out of place but holding your bag and waiting nonetheless.
I'm off to check the blog of such talented artist!
these are fantastic!
Can you please tell me about press releases?! I have no idea what to do? Thanks sweetie! xo
Aw, this is fab
Oh, Belette!!!! I love these!!! Will go there this very minute!!!
Lots of love!!!
Oh, I love Up and Down Town too, although I am behind on everything. Sweet!
These are great!
