You may remember a few weeks ago that I won Dr. Perricone’s Advanced Face Firming Activator at Fashion Herald’s gorgeous blog. Well, when I was in Sephora last weekend I told the sales assistant that I had won Dr. Perricone’s Advanced Face Firming Activator and I asked her what she thought of the stuff. The S.A. told me she LOVES the Advanced Firming Face Activator (even though she knew I wasn’t going to be buying it from her) and that her Aunt, who is very hippy-dippy and who even sprouts her own wheat to make her own hippy bread, loves Dr. Perricone’s Advance Firming Activator and wouldn’t be without it. That is a resounding recommendation to me. I didn’t think hippy-dippy-sprouting-bread-making Aunts would use any cream that didn’t involve goats milk that came from Tibetan goats that did hours of meditation and eating lotus blossoms. I left Sephora feeling more firmly enlightened about Perricone and thrilled to learn that Aunty credits her gorgeous skin to Perricone and not yak cheese. I would do a lot to have great skin but eating yak cheese is not one of them.
I am so happy to know that I can have my baguette( no spelt bread for me) and a firm face too, thanks to Dr. Perricone. And, thanks to the lovely people at Cosmeceuticals you may be a firm face winner too. They have kindly offered to let me a host a giveaway of the same product.
Details of the contest:
- To enter please leave a comment sharing a skincare secret. It doesn’t matter if your secret came from your own Aunt Hippy-Dippy or the pages of Allure.
- You must be a U.S. Resident to win ( Sorry:-( ). But that doesn’t mean you can’t tell your secret anyways.
- Winner will be picked randomly.
- Winner will be announced August 15, 2009.
Good luck!

Oooh, what a great contest. My secret is sunblock – and that lip stuff from Neo Strata (Antiwrinkle Lip Enhancer) I never shut up about. And, I have a US address, fyi.
I just learned yesterday from reading Paul Begoun's website that we don't need a separate eye cream! Whatever you use on your face can be used around the orbital area as well.
Those Clean and Clear oil absorbing blue things. No need to re apply powder (thus no extra clogging of pores) mid day. I break out less often and it really improves my skins appearance.
My skincare secret? Staying out of the sun. And good genes. Do those count?
Mine is not a secret as every British and non-British woman living in the UK knows it already. I love Boots' No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum, apparently one of the few productsindipendently scientifically proved to reduce wrinkles that won't dry up your finances! And I'm a keen user of Clinique City Blocks (SPF25 in the UK, SPF40 all other sunny places!!!) Ciao. A.
well, aside from starting over with a whole new genetic background (like ingrid bergman as your mother or something)… my aunt, who is 81 and looks maybe 60, always used egg whites and olive oil whipped together to go around the eyes, and the yolks and olive oil spread all over the rest of her face, then lay down for 10minutes with cucumbers or teabags on your eyes and a box of chocolate nearby. i said years ago that she should start a beauty products line, or at least write a book about her beauty methods. we'd be rich (and young looking) by now.
i love it when i find/get that thing that makes me feel like i'm on the right track in connection to skin or hair care.
recently i bought back a simple lotion from spain. my poor skin was so dry. this one works for me.
i'm pleased as punch about your new find. enjoy!!
My skin care secret is to wash your face is to always use toner. Twice a day! It's the easiest step to skip but helps so much.
I try to mist my face with Jurlique lavender hydrating mist before I put on my moisturizer. I feel that it helps hydrate before I seal with moisturizing products.
I also exfoliate frequently. I really love Suke Lemon sugar facial scrub. It smells like fresh lemons
Exfoliate! It's the only thing that helps keep my skin soft.
I'm afraid I don't have a skincare secret. I'm just hoping I've inherited my grandmother's genes in that department. She's 90, looks 20 years younger, and has the most beautiful skin.
A good cry keeps us soft and supple inside and out.
Oh no! Such a challenge to do this right. Um, well, I did a video this weekend of an instant face lift.
(not entering, just sharing :^D)
Sunscreen everyday, exfoliate often with fine sugar in my cleanser, and a Derm recommended Olay Total Effects 7 in 1 Cream Cleanser and it has really improved my skin.
Skin-care secret presumes we care for our skin Miss LBR, hhmmm. Our best one would actually be concealer from Bobbi Brown, although technically it is not what you are seeking.

Oh, I need this! Hope I win.
So, my skincare secret is two inexpensive and easily found but highly effective face cleaning products that I adore:
* Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser
* Common witch hazel used as toner (I use Dickinson's but I don't think that brand matters one whit)
I have very, very, very dry skin that (infuriatingly) will still get pimples at the drop of a hat if I put anything too thick on it. These two are excellent for keeping my clean and balanced.
Now, if I could just find the perfect moisturizer…
I have stayed with one cleansing product throughout all the years of my modeling and non-modeling years. I cleanse my face with Cetaphil skin cleanser. The thing I like about this product is that it can be used with water or without water, so it's great for traveling. It is a non-alkaline, non-comedogenic, fragrance-free cleanser that can be used on babies and old ladies and doesn't need to be rinsed off. It's a product that has been on the market long enough for it to be "generic" and now almost every large pharmacy or grocery store has their own lower priced version of the product.
The reason that I list this as my one secret to good skin is that cleansing is the one constant in my skin care regimen. Cetaphil removes any and all makeup including derma-blend and waterproof mascara. And the thing that has made a difference in my skins health is that I have never gone to bed with make-up on. This means that I never wake up with raccoon eyes.
And if anyone could use a good firming, tightening, anti-wrinkle serum, it's the woman over 60. Pick me! I really need it.
My skincare secret is to only exfoliate once a week
Fab giveaway, darling!
xoxox,
CC
Damn I need a US address! I think I might have to invest in some when I get a proper job to pay off my masters loan!!
My secret: I have never smoked and have always loved to wear big hats for natural sunscreen protection. Vitamin D good, sun damage very, very bad.
I also won a bottle of Perricone Face Firming Lotion, and I adore it! It makes my skin feel and look great. Even if you don't win it, it's well worth the money! Great product!
my skin care secret is salmon – full of the fatty acids skin needs to glow!
Oh, I thought of another one (no, I am not entering the competition twice). I use a parasol on walks to keep the sunburn away.
My secret? Years ago I was waitressing, and one night it was very slow – only one party outside on the patio. Even the owner had gone home early. Right before closing a very elegant couple came in and ordered two espressos. They were both dressed in exquisite, expensive black suits. We got a lot of industry people at the restaurant, so I assumed they were execs from one of the nearby studios. The woman in particular had amazing skin and the deepest violet eyes, and a large hat, even though it was night. For some reason I found myself sitting with them, talking. They were both so elegant and mesmerizing – I was drawn to them. I have no idea idea what we talked about, except I remember her telling me she always wore a hat and stayed out of the sun. The only other thing I remember is I woke up later that night, at home, with two strange marks on my neck. And since then my skin has been pretty good because I've always worn a hat and used sunscreen.
I must enter, for sure. I have been a Perricone user for over two years, and although I don't care for all of Dr Perricone's merchandise (such as the acai drink and a couple of others), I do like the serum, the moisturizer, the cleanser, the sunblock. It does work. Now off to the other website.
xoxo
Such a fun contest! And I love trying new skincare products, so thank you for the recommendation. I have recently become hooked on Juice Beauty's Green Apple Peel for sensitive skin. It zaps zits and makes my face look and feel all glowy and springy. I just love it!
No to smoking, no to tanning beds, stay out of the sun a bit, wash and moisturize and pray that you have good genes.
I've already read some wonderful secrets here already – a few of which I plan to try since I have none of my own other than the age old advice to eat fruit and vegetables, drink water, stay out of the sun and get plenty of sleep.
oh pick me, pick me! I exfoliate once a week, use mask weekly, uses la mer religiously and make my own red date water. after a gal pal gave birth, she had someone take care of her for 45 days so she didn't have to lift a finger. during this time, her skin became flawless and glowed. She told me the woman prepared red date drink for her daily and viola, healthy glowing skin.
ps i have a shoe giveaway this week. come join the fun!
Oohh, a contest! Count me in!
I have few skincare secrets, because I don't use much of a "skincare regimen." I work in a gym, and am covered in sweat and grime and bacteria much of the time, so I can't wear makeup. (Mmmmm, sounds appetizing, doesn't it?)
This forces my (ahem) "natural beauty" on the world early in the morning, and all day long, for that matter, with nothing to camouflage my puffy eyes or whatever other afflictions arise.
Anyway, I don't use many products to keep myself looking young. I splash cold water on my face several times each day, and just towel off when I can't use proper cleanser and moisturizer. I use anti-bacterial gel when handling equipment, and that's about it.
I'd welcome a product like the one you're giving away. I think it would be nice to have some luxury in my life.
Toner always makes a big difference with me. I can tell when I've been neglectful about it. I have several faves with toner, but especially love Bliss Spas toner from the Youth line.
Bell: Here's my secret: my Lemontini Facial, Skinceuticals CE Ferulic serum, Anthelios sunscreens, MarieVeronique tinted zinc sunscreen, Retin A, Renova, LaRoche Posay Toleriane line, KZM skin care products.
Laser peels, chemical peels, glycolics, salicylics, goats sperm masks.
Fish oil tabs, MSM powder, ALA, Green tea, Resveratrol, CoQ10, Vitamin C Ester.
Water, fresh greens, lots of veggies and fruit. Lots of wine!
Facial yoga, facial exercises, Botox, but just in my forehead! And only two or three times a year!
I spilled it ALL, now please let me WIN!!!
OK, so on behalf of all of the big girls out there: Fat preserves. You take a chubby girl and put her next to a skinny woman of the same age and envariably the chubby girl has fewer wrinkles…because fat preserves. Now, this is no excuse to gain 80 lbs…but it makes me feel better!
My skincare secret is SPF 55 EVERY DAY. This stuff looks good!
This is too little too late, but sunblock is the biggest skincare secret out there. I only wish that I had known that 40 years ago.
Marry a younger man!
Seriously, a few drops of jojoba oil is my skincare "secret". My mom swore by 100% pure lanolin oil, but I can't do the sheep thing, so I go with jojoba. It just seems to keep everything in balance. For external use only.
My skincare secret: be happy and your skin will love you!
Because I can't enter, instead I ask: What would go into this "Hippy-dippy bead" I wonder? I will take inspiration from the beauty hints above:
5 parts sunscreen
2 parts toner
1 part exfoliator
1 part good genes
.5 parts salmon
I'm pretty sure I've heard eating tomato paste every day helps. This would help explain the excellent skin of most European ladies, but does not make me hate them less. I use daily tinted spf and don't wash my face every day because it gets too dry. Also lots of couple time is supposed to help the skin and all sorts of ailments
Ages ago I read that Japanese women have a beauty secret that tightens the pores and freshens the complexion in the morn and at night. After cleansing, and before using any products, splash your face 15 times with cold water. I'm kinda hooked on how good it feels.
Also, a staple of mine for the past 15 years has been Frownies, those brown paper pieces that when moistened you put on wrinkle-prone areas while you sleep. I use only the ones for forehead, not around the mouth. They really do help. (frownies.com)
I have been wanting to try Dr. Perricone and will do so after reading the comments here.
And I wish someone could recommend a sunscreen for allergy-sensitive folks like me. The stuff drives me up a wall. The closest I've come to being able to stand on my skin for the length of a day is DHC White Sunscreen.
Oh honey, today I did a post on my own skincare: if you think that doesn't give me pole position on winning, then let me know
)))
Secret: Don't go thru windscreens at 100mph. Easy.
Ciggarettes and laxatives Darls!
um, no wait. That's my weightloss secret.
umm, oh I know. Pissing myself laughing about 50 times a day. Thats it.
xx
for Lydia, sensitive to sunscreen:
try Neutragena Healthy Defense daily moisturizer untinted spf 30. Works for me. Unscented and doesn't make eyes water and sinuses ache, either.
My tip is this: years ago I went to see the then famous Dr. Kligman (inventor of retin-a). No big problems but mild sensitive-type breakouts and it was a splurge. I was 34 and grew up in Southern California before I ever heard of sunblock. He said my skin was "pretty damn amazing."
So, recently I read that just plain foundation serves very well as sunblock. I think this must have been what did it for me. As teenagers, many of us wore foundation every single day, starting from junior high.
I just try and keep my face clean. I don't even use foundation. In a few years that may have to change.
Okay, I'll come out from m New York hide out to tell you my secret: La Roche Posay's 'redermic'. I haven't added a wrinkle in the 4 years I have been using it.
wendyB, very wise.
i'd add nutrition i guess, because i see a difference when i don't eat certain things.
(not entering, just sharing.xox)
You know, I don't think I'll be entering this contest. No, it's not because I'm a guy. I already have perfect skin.
Wow, some great suggestions here. I too use Cetaphil and follow up with Witch Hazel as a toner. I drink 2 tsp of Organic Apple cider vinegar (braggs brand is best) in a tall glass of water daily and my skin is so soft because of this. As a mom on a budget I'd love to try this product!
Thanks so much for visiting my blog and leaving the lovely comment! It seems shameful to dive right into a giveaway without introducing myself properly, but I'm a sucker for skincare, so here goes my entry!
Here's a beauty secret– and I don't remember how I found this: Keep your eye gels for puffy eyes in the fridge and when you've been out a wee bit past your bedtime, it will greatly reduce the puffiness in the morning. It's very soothing as well!
Also, a friend of a friend once said the secret to great skincare was "HYDRATION, HYDRATION, and MORE HYDRATION." So water– it's free! And good for your skin
I'm loving Hammie's skincare secrets! But my own no longer involve ciggies, it's good genes, an allergy to the sun, and Cetaphil. Great skin cleanser and takes off eye makeup at the same time. Just wish it was paraben-free. Then my #1 recommendation is Weleda products. Love the rose night cream.
(and did you get your Perricone? Been meaning to ask!)
Exfoliate with wet oatmeal.
I love Perricone! Thanks for the chance to win it. My secret is just a good moisturizer every night!
Miss J's secrets include wearing hats when in the sun (and sunscreen), and back in the day she heard one should never put something on one's skin that one wouldn't eat. So for a while, she used olive oil to remove her make-up.
What – I can't win? I have to say, sunscreen is my no 1, and after that, It's the alternating use of AHAs and BHAs – AHAs for wrinkles and sun damage, BHAs for the pimples that I STILL GET AT 40!
I also LOVE Lansinoh (nipple cream for breastfeeding mothers) for my lips – they go from dry and cracked to soft in 1 night!
Oh a fantastic contest. And I look forward to hearing how the Perricone thing works for you. I am liking the Peter THomas Roth eye cream but still cringe at the price tag.
OK, my beauty secret- Neosporin to help get rid of blemishes. it helps to take out the red, I'm guessing kill the infection, etc. I don't know, but it seems to work for me. Love that I still have blemish issues but now wrinkles too.
Please consider this tip since I am 50 — and I have a teenage daughter 16 –so we go through skin care and make-up like water in this house!! She is fair skinned and gorgeous. And I have darker skin, and sun damage, so we have much different issues. But one thing we actually both adore is mascara..
I have been using one thing to get my eye make-up off for years that is the only thing that doesn't irritate my eyes – Abolene cleanser. I use it just for eye make-up and it really takes off every drop.
I love Perricone eye cream, by the way, it's magic.
I once read that models put toothpaste on their adult pimples. I thought that sounded crazy but I tried it and it so works. Plus you smell a bit minty.
Lush soap is great!
Sunscreen. Not so much a secret. Neutrogena's Advanced Acne stuff.
I have a US address now so I'll share. Chicken skins and fat. Veggies look away.
when you've made a roast chicken there is nothing better than handling it with clean hands of course and ensuring you get lots of lovely chicken fat on your hands. This works better than any hand cream. If you can bear to slather some on your face it is a serum au natural. Don't roast the chicken with any oil, let all it's own juices do the work just add water in the roasting tray and/or white wine.
My secret to great skin is Borghese Fango Mud mask.
Cool cucumbers on my eyes ahhhh and they really help puffiness and dark circles, too ! Thanks for your great contest dear !
drink water. don't smoke. eat mindfully. get lots of sleep. SPF and a big hat. and smile often!
i used to hate it when my mother would slather me with sunscreen when i was at the swimming pool nearly every summer day during my childhood. but now i am eternally grateful for her constant "nagging". it has kept my german-scandinavian-irish skin clear and relatively spot-free.
the last one is so important. my mother and my mother-in-law have the best wrinkles around their eyes and mouth. they tell the world that these ladies have had many happy adventures.
My skin care secret…well I don't have one, but I think breaking a good sweat helps the body help the skin. Thanks for the giveaway!
I use olive oil to remove my eye makeup. Always have ever since my teen years. My lashes are full and curl on their own I never have to use an eyelash curler.
I cannot live without Kiehl's Abyssine Cream. It goes on so smoothly and makes my skin look RADIANT. A little goes a long way and feels luxurious. I'd love to try a new product!
great giveaway..love trying new products..include me please
let's see….i wash my face 2x a day, do a mask once a week…do a scrub once a week…use sunscreen all yr round…drink lots of water…try to get plenty of sleep…sleep with a silk pillowcase…avoid alcohol and cigarettes….uhhmm also my mom has great skin…its in the gene i guess
Thanks!
For many years I have used a Japanese product called "Deep Cleansing Oil" by DHC. It is made out of olive oil and I was really hesitant to try it. (Olive oil? All over my face???) But it is simply the best cleanser I have ever used. Absolutely amazing. They do send out samples. (1-800-DHC-CARE)
Hello beautiful!
This is a fabulous contest slashed giveaway…
I love this product by Philosophy called 'Save me'. I don't use it everyday…only 3 times a week. And more during winter to help exfoliate the skin. For eyes I use 'Vita-K solution'…I used to look like a Panda bear-dark circles! keep this product in the fridge…nice when it's chilled. It helps a little bit…when a little is better than nothing at all right?!
when my skin is uneven, I use 1 egg white mix with a sueeze of lemon juice, apply on face for just about 5 mins & rinse off… Taking Omega 3 helps a lot too, even for my hair! Most important SPF & hats when I do my gardening. Have a great weekend & kiss Lilly for me!!
xo*
My beauty secret is stress, and lots of it. I'm 55 but look much younger. Not young enough, of course!
My skin has been great since I started using Vitamin C serum. I just use the inexpensive brand 40 carrots. I also love using any type of pumpkin face peel.
A glass of water in the morning upon rising.
(Great for releasing hung poo, too! I know….TMI…)
My secret is sunblock always on my face before I leave the house in the morning but my nightime secret is use your night cream of preference and then put a little aquaphor over it and then take strip of 3M medical grade tape and put a strip on your forehead and a smaller piece between your brows. Wake up with no lines! I am 40 and in all seriousness I could easily pass for mid to late 20's.
My secret is once a month facials with deep cleansing and facial massage.
Well I am too late to win the contest but I thought I would share my skin care secret with you anyways: Bag Balm. Originally to help relieve cow udders from dryness, it is a magical ointment that clears up any skin problem over night. Couldn't help yourself and picked at your skin? This will help. Have really dry skin somewhere? Works wonders. Seriously, when it comes to skin care products, I could not be without this one.
