I am not sure if you remember but I posted this picture of ma petite, très mignonne Mademoiselle Lily the other day. Well, the dear Fairy god blogger Fifi’s Flowers saw the picture of Lily and turned it into a painting. I am amazed how she captured Lily in this beautiful puppy portrait. That is exactly the way Lily gazes upon me when I call her name. Fifi also did a fantastic job of capturing my menagerie of pillows which Lily likes to lounge upon.
I am not sure if you all know the story of how I got lovely Lily. So here it is: Once upon a time I thought He-weasel and I were going to get this beautiful girl, only we didn’t. I complained on the blog that they weren’t getting back to me and that day Fifi contacted me and asked me if I would like to contact a friend of hers who knows Westie breeders and two weeks later I had Lily.
I can never thank you enough, dear Fifi. You put a frosting on the puppy cake and even cherries on top. I love the painting and, as you know, I love Lily.
Having a blog and having a dog have changed my life. If I didn’t blog I wouldn’t have my dog. There are so many ways that blogging has changed my life. I have made so many lovely friends. I have had lovely experiences I would have never had otherwise and I am sure that if I didn’t blog I wouldn’t have gotten the dog and I know for sure I would have never had Lily. Merci beaucoup, mon amie Fifi!

How wonderful of Fifi to do this painting for you!
We are lucky to have found you too and get to enjoy your blog regularly!
Hope Lily is feeling better.
Beautiful sentiments about Lily and blogging.
I’m not a dog person (sorry!) but have to say I think Lily is one of the most adorable dogs I have ever, ever seen. I think you and she deserve each other – I am new to your blog but have a feeling your Lily has a “sparkling personality” similar to yours.
Cheers and enjoy this happiness you so clearly deserve.
I think that these blogs are incredible!!!
and I adore dogs………
What a wonderful, sweet little post. Fifi does indeed sound magical xx
What a sweet story! It’s so nice that Lily has brought so much joy to you.
That is so sweet, La Bel
BTW, Vodka Mom pushed in front of me. Is there comment queue monitor? I need to make a report….
What a wonderful gift. Lily looks like she has the princess part down. My dog who has a prince charm on him collar, has recently decided that the way to sleep is back to back with me and his head on my pillow.
Blogging has brought a lot of wonderful ideas and people into my world. I am thankful for all of them. Thanks for keeping us up to date on Lily.
What a nice painting!
back off, braja. I’ll take you down, girl
friends or no……
Lovely portrait of the young Lily. I am so delighted for this turn in your life!
I want a lily too! xv
I love this! What a great thing this interconnectedness is–so much talent out there!
Thank you for sharing all your experiences and your connections.
And Fifi! Wow! Beautiful work.
Kirie
What a wonderfu painting of your adorable Lily! I too am very thankful for the creation of the blog world. xo
Very groovy gift! All this doggery makes me like dogs almost as much as cats. Almost.
Yay for Puppies! Yay for friends! Yay for blogging friends! Such a lovely painting
Just beautiful!
As you recently commented over at my place, gifts of art painted by talented friends are the BEST! I love the whimsy in this — Lily must be so tickled . . .
Fifi is an amazing blogger and artist! What a treasure you have…Lily AND a painting of Lily.
Love,
CC
You are one of my best “on line friends”. Your encouragement has been amazing to me. I remember your first comment was on my Coffee and Silence blog and I thought, “There is a woman I would like to know more”.
You certainly are that!
And I am so glad you have Lily! Pets make the world go ’round. Hooray for Fifi and her good heart!!
Imogen:So sweet of Fifi!
Blogging changed my life. If I didn’t blog I would have never met you and that would have been so sad.
Thanks for asking. Lily is on medication and I got her a humidifer. She is napping right now with her head on my leg as I type. Love that girl.
Carolyn:Thank you, sweet you!
Your compliment about Lily means even more to me since you are not a dog person. Lily definitely has a “sparkling personality” and I am so tickled you think I share that with Lils.
Thank you, Carolyn!! I am so happy you found my blog. It is so lovely to get to know you.
Vodka Mom:Blogs and dogs are two of the best things in life.
Pretty Face:Fifi is a godblogger. Her kindness changed my life. It is amazing!
Nancy (nanflan):Thank you! She certainly has.
Magnificent! How sweet of Fifi – hope you can get a copy and frame it.
Braja:Don’t make me separate you two. And, Braja, there is no order of importance of comments. Now, play nice you two!;-)
Julianne:She is a princess. Her preferred way to sleep is in our bed with her head on our Garnet Hill flannel pillows and covered with a Scandanavian down blanket, and with her Mr. Duck held firmly in her arms.
I promise that this is the last Lily post of the week. I just had to post this painting!!
Blogging is a life changing habit. I am so grateful for all that it has brought me.
Carlene: I love it!:-)
Vodka Mom: Now, now…;-)
Duchesse:Thank you. I am so pleased for this change of tide. I am liking 2009.:-)
Vicki: Well, Lily does have sisters that are available.;-)
Kirie: I remember back in the stone age when the Internet first started I was afraid of all the creepy people who were on-line. I was soooo wrong!
Comedy Goddess:What is better than Lily?Lily and a painting of Lily!
Blogging is soooo amazing. I am a huge fan!
Randal:If you met Lily I feel sure you would be convinced.;-)
Paula:I am with you on the yay to the third power!:-)
Wendy:It really is.
Materfamilias:Lily is not at all surprised that she inspired art works. The AKC description of Westies contain no small amount of self-esteem. It is soooo true.
I, on the other hand, am totally surprised by this lovely portrait. I love it!!!
Cassoulet Cafe:She is also a lovely and generous person. I am forever grateful to her.
Kristen: Your very sweet comment brought a few tears to my eyes. I remember when I first *met* you and I instantly felt a connection. It is such a strange thing, this blogging, that we develop such strong connections, concern and friendships without ever meeting.
I think I even remember the first comment I left you. Wasn’t it about your friend? Am I remembering that right?
Thanks, Kristin! I am happy we both got our furry friends. Oh, and the yogurt did help. Lils seems to be tooting a little less.
Sal: Me too!!!:-)
Yep, it was about my friend. I’m pleased to say that health wise she is terrific. The healthiest she has been in her entire life!
Kristin: I am so happy to hear that. Great news.
I love it! Fifi is the best, and so are you, La Belette!
xoxox,
CC
yes,indeed- blogs give gifts that the internet websites rarely do- is it the feedback or the waves of connections, synchronicities (sp)and joy which resonate in the nebulous airwaves of the blogosphere? Who knows? It is like so many of the other intangibles in life they can best be perceived my the heart! Hoorah– for the gifts of blogging friends! How cool to have a Lily portrait-aren’t dogs just love buckets-and they do not talk back, just cuddle and follow you around.
joy today- it is snowing here in the south of France- a real rarity
Dancing Doc: Sooooo lovely to see you. As I said on your blog, I have missed you and it is so nice to see you both on your blog and here.
The connections, friendships and synchronicities that occur in this novel forum of blogging are just profound, amazing and, yes, life changing.
Lily is a healer of the heart. As soon as I saw her my heart just melted and that melting filled in the empty and craggly places.
Snow in France. Le sigh! That sounds heavenly. Enjoy the beautiful day.
That’s a lovely painting–I’m so happy that you have it. I love this story. And your blog.
I love this painting and I love Lily too. I’m so envious. I will never have a lovely dog like her unless I divorce my husband who’s allergic to pet fur! My daughter -who wants to become a vet – says that as soon as she can she will move out and get not one, but ten dogs!!! Mind you, she’s only 9! I left a message on your previous post but it has magically disappeared. I’m not very good at this. Take care. Ciao. Antonella
Couture Carrie:It is such a lovely portrait. I am so grateful. And, I am grateful for your kind comment.
xoxo
Marinka:Thank you, sweets. This blogging thing is so great.
Lunarossa:Thank you, dear you.I have great news for you. Lily is hypoalergenic. That is why the Obama family is considering one for his daughter who has allergies. Just something to consider. I wouldn’t want your daughter to have to wait 9 years for her dog collection to begin if she doesn’t have to.;-)
I am sorry I missed your other comment. I always make a copy of my comments just in case Blogger loses my comment.
It’s assuredly true that when a door closes sometimes the french doors to a glorious garden open.
Oh Lily is gorgeous. I am slightly biased – I adore Westies. My great friend Soodie has had many Westies and one, in particular, was in love with my cat.
If you want to have a laugh:

Susan: Is crow feeding you lines, Susan?;-) And, you say you aren’t a writer. If you want to convince me of that you have to stop writing such beautiful comments.:-)
Charlie: Thank you for your fantastic taste in dogs. And thank you for telling me about Soodie. I love meeting other Westie lovers. I thought that Westie’s hated cats. No? That is good to hear.
Lovely painting from Fifi. She did Romeo out male cat and I just love it. She is precious. So is her portrait.
Cris:Oooh, I want to see your cat portrait. I will go over and see if I can find her.
Gorgeous. How great she painted this for you!
I’m envisioning a painting of Queen Bitty and Bear with his dolphin and moose…
I have a friend that just got a Westie for christmas and named her Lily.
Shelly
Romeos painting is there.. just keep scrolling till you find it. I did a whole post on it and her. She is so fun and a fabulous whimsical artist.
This is seriously like the sweetest thing ever. I’m all sappy after seeing this painting. I love this blogosphere more every day.
Blonde Duck: You can commission such a portrait. If you do please post the portrait on your blog.
Shelly: Really??? You must send her to my blog. I would love to hear about her Lily!! So cool and so very lovely to meet you. And, Shelly, your puppy is very cute.
Sassy: I know. I was stunned that a blogger that I have never met made this love connection happen and now the painting!:-) The blogosphere is so amazing.
Such a gorgeous painting!
La belette, how wonderful!! I drive my husband crazy with cat painting requests.
And your blogging words are so true and heartfelt. I am so happy to have found you through the wendy brandes blog.
Make Do Style: I am sure that having a lovely model inspired her to do her best work.
Fashion herald: Does he ever do them for you? I would love to see them.
I am so happy you found my blog. Thank you, Wendy!! It has been lovely to get to know you. I look forward to shopping in NYC with you soon.
I want you to post about Lily. We all want to hear about her escapades every day!
Julianne:I fear that I might only write about Lily if I don’t discipline myself and you aren’t helping with this Julianne. Be careful what you ask for.;-)
Thanks for the comment on my black, white cat Romeo. He also has seven toes on each foot. So his groomer keeps telling me each time she has to cut his nails.
I thank you for being my new blogging friend! : )
La Donna
Oh that’s so sweet it just gave me the chills. I totally agree – with the blogging and dogging thing! Both life changers
Cris:Romeo is the perfect name for him. I love him. I would love to get my paws on that seven toes beauty and give it a good petting. What a love!!!
Fifi is so wonderful. What a great picture my lovely.
I nominated you for the Honest Scrap blogger award. Come take a look.
La Donna: Thank you! I am very grateful we met too.:-)
Maegan:Fifi is a sweetheart. If it weren’t for her there would be no Lily. I cannot thank her enough. I want a teeshirt that says “I love dogs and blogs.”;-)
Laura: Thank you! Wow!:-D
Ohhhhh Miss LBR, how very cool! We thought about having our previous pooch (Phred le Deux) memorialized this way, but ended up not doing it. Your Lily portrait is awesome!
We’re so happy your wee love is proving to be so wonderful. Our heart is smiling.
What a nice portrait of your doggie. My compliments to the artist and the subject.
That picture is beyond fantastic! I LOVE it.
That is lovely that Fifi has painted Lily for you. Very sweet.
What a pampered little Princess she must be ~ sitting amongst all those beautiful pillows – I love the bee one ( a hint of a Versace maybe? )
I enjoy your blog and I am so glad that I have found it. I cherish so many of my blog friends I have made. Thank you.
Hugs
Carolyn
Today has been CRAZY!
Grandma back in hospital… Work… Kids… Painting LATE tonight… I never had time to pop over… YEA… NOW, I’m here!
Thanks for posting about moi and Lily’s puppy portrait! I read about puppy cough… I hope she is alright! I am soooooo delighted to be part of your happiness!
I have a blog and NO puppy!
Must contact Fifi!!!
I guess you are loved…
Sure… contact moi… you need a DOG or a Painting of a DOG… I can do both!
TP:It is a lovely way to start 2009. I am deeply touched by Fifi’s kindness.
I hope you post about your Tily. Hee-hee, you have Tily and I have Lily.
Pagan Sphinx:I agree, both the art and the puppy are beautiful.
K.Line: She captured Lily to perfection.
Carolyn:If it is up to Lily none of my beautiful pillows will have tassels or trim.
Thank you!I am so happy you found my blog. It is so nice to get to know you.
Fifi: Oh, Fifi I am so very sorry about your grandmother and your crazy day.
Thank you so much, Fifi, for everything. You are such a sweetheart and a dear and kind friend. I can never thank you enough for brining Lily and I together. He-weasel and I will be forever grateful.
xoxo
CarolG: You and Fifi have a lot in common as you both paint Paris.I thought you had a dog. No?
I love that painting!
Can’t wait to meet Lily!!
Janie: Lily cannot wait to meet you.:-)
Well done Fifi!
Isn’t the blogging community wonderful?
What a lovely painting. And Lily is such a cute pup – she was obviously meant to be in your life, rather than the other pup. My mum never planned to get me. She was searching for a Westie, but then she attended a flying display with Uncle Hugh and they met someone who knew about me. The rest is history! My mum says that fate often makes better decisions than she does:) (PS: blogging has changed my little world too)
OH how wonderful!!!!!
Melle Lily in painting is as cute as she.
And we are very lucky that you started blogging and to be able to be in touch with you my belle ami.
Big hug
Love
xoxo
That is such a lovely gesture from Fifi! She has captured Lily’s likeness amazingly and beautifully! I can tell you are so pleased with such a wonderful gift! I’m glad you started blogging and now, dogging…if that’s even a word, LOL!
Gasp!! I want a painting of Miss Sadie!!!!!
Wow. Great painting!
