Comment s’appelle-t-elle ?

I promise I will not turn this blog into a Westie Highland terrier wonderland. I will try to be restrained and remember not everyone is as excited about my puppy as I am. But, since you all asked. I thought I would answer your questions and I also have some questions for you.

Q: Sex?
A: Girly-girl-girl-girl.

Q:Is this the Westie Rescue puppy?
A: Nope. Those people had me fill out pages of forms, give references and write a check and they never returned my calls.

Q: So how did you find this darling puppy?
A: My fairy Godblogger, Fifi’s Flowers hooked me up to a wonderful woman who had the inside scoop on Westies. A million mercis to Fifi!

Q:How old?
A: 7 weeks.

Q: When do you get her?
A: She can leave the breeders on the 27th. She is presently in Missouri and she will fly to L.A. We will get her on the 29,30, or 31st. We can hardly wait.

Q: What is her name?
A: She doesn’t have one yet.

So, as many of you know this is my first puppy ever so I have a few questions for you:
1. Name suggestions. What would you name my darling puppy?
2. What advice do you have for this first time ever puppy parent?
3. Isn’t she the cutest thing you have ever seen?
4. And, where can I get her a tartan puppy jacket?

Both puppy and I thank you in advance. Oh, and if you cannot wait for my puppy to arrive di what I do and watch the following Youtube Westie videos and sigh audibly and talk in your baby cutesy voice.

  • She’s adorable! I’m terrible at thinking of pet names and I’ve never owned a dog, so my only contribution can be a resoundingly girly “Awwww!” I’m afrad!

  • Congratulations on your forthcoming puppy-doption!

He is gorgeous; is Winkie too twee?
    xx

  • She looks like a little ‘pixie’ to me – definitely not a weaselette, xv.

  • Best Name Ever? Doodle Poot.

  • She is absolutely adorable. I suggest you name her Fifi in honor of the woman who helped you find her.

  • yea! I am first. I am so thrilled for you. You are going to love this so much. I will have to think on the name as I have difficulty with cute and creative names.

My advice is this. Just like with children, you will get loads of advice. Different people have different ideas about pet rearing just like child rearing.

I happen to view my pets as children. And as you can see, I support attachment parenting. This means that I like my pets to be close to me. I did crate them until they were house broken, and then we put the crates away. That said, Don’t be pressured, just do what feels right to YOU.

Yes, she is the cutest thing ever.
I buy most of my pet stuff at petsmart, but living in LA I am sure you have some fancy schmantzy pet boutiques where your girly girl can find anything you would want.

  • You’re in L.A. How about Mae Westie?

OK. too obvious and you hate L.A.

She’s a real cutie. But I have a question. In France, when dogs come through a breeder, dogs have to have names that start with a particular letter for any given year. For example: Last year was “C”, so after my MILs dog had been “serviced” by a purebred, her litter of puppies had to have names that started with “C”. There was “Cookie” and “Canaille” (which sort of means cheeky).

I guess that’s not how it is in the States…

And my word verification is “trots”. Which reminds me: Puppies leak a little bit. That’s just a heads up.

  • Elle’s bell’s a girl!
as for a name I suggest you avoid Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii! Remember what ever you chose you have to visualise yourself screaming it across a park with out every vagrant and wierdo turning to look at you!

  • La chienne Parisienne, naturelement! Unless of course, that means something horrible in the French vernacular.

(I can’t resist mentioning the wv: rendoop = reindeer poop)

  • She looks gorgeous, practically edible – not that I am suggesting you should.

1 I think you should wait till you see her to decide; sometimes you can settle on a name and then find it doesn’t suit the recipient

2 Train her properly. My MIL has an appallingly behaved dog because she has no idea of discipline and the damn thing pees and poos indoors – and she laughs and says isn’t it sweet! It is banned from my house now.

3 Yes, definitely. Even cuter than the mouse with a teddy I was directed to from someone’s blog (can’t remeber who now but I still ahve th picture on my wall to cheer me up).

4 Can’t help you there I am afraid but you could always google it.

Have fun when she arrives adn I look forward to catching up with you in January. Happy Christmas

  • Chienne Parisienne does mean something and it isn’t very nice.

  • CG: Ooh, that is a good start to the naming game. But, see below that Mrs. C says it does have a bad meaning. Hmm….
LOL @ reindeer poop. How festive of blogger!!

  • Alienne:I am afraid I will be threatening her on a regular basis with words such as “you are so cute I am going to eat you up.”

1 That is what I did with Monsiur Inkey.

2 I am definitely going to train her.

3 I posted the mouse with the teddy bear. I do love that picture.

4 Good call. She must have a lovely sweater.

Have a fantastic trip. I am so excited for you. And, happy Christmas to you!!xoxo

  • Mrs.C: So what does it mean? Do tell!!!

  • wait a minute. I thought I already left a comment. About Mae Westie (which was probably too obvious) and it had to go through comment approval. I also asked a question about whether there were rules for naming breeded dogs (coz there are in France) and then I made an inane comment about my word verification which was “trots” and I thought that was funny, because sometimes puppies “leak”.

Now my word verif is flatecia. Puppies fart too.

  • Chienne, when referring to a person – Parisian works perfectly, means complete and utter mean, no holds barred, bitch (salope).

However, for a female dog, I guess it works. But your westie looks too damn cute for such a name.

OMG! Word verif this time? “Witch”

  • Mrs.C: I had a problem last night where I was getting hit by a lot of spam and so I put it on comment moderation. But, when I got up I saw there were no comments and I decide to take it off the comment moderation as hopefully the spammers were gone.

For whatever reason the people at Blogger did not send me your comment. Very bad people! I fear may have missed some fantastic name suggestions. I hate that and it is all the spammers fault!!!!

LOL! Mae Westie!!! Brilliant. And, no, there are no name rules here in the states.

    Puppies fart? Shocking.;-)

  • Mrs.C:No, my Westie girl is no bitch.
I guess a Westie who is a bitch would be a witch, if there is such a thing.

  • How about naming her Miuccia, for obvious reasons?

I often lurk here and must tell you how much I enjoy.

    Anna G.

  • 1. Name suggestions. What would you name my darling puppy?

    I would recommend against Bertha.

  • Highland connotes Scotland to me, so I’d give her something Scottish. I named my golden retriever “Queenie,” which refrences British barmaids, according to a baby name book I have. I wonder what a Scottish barmaid name is?

  • Anna: Thank you for coming out of lurkdom for that fantastic comment. Perhaps if I call her Miuccia she will be kind to shoes instead of destroying them. You are clever!!!!

It is lovely to meet you and I am so glad you like my little blog. Please delurk again soon. Really, my day is made because you came out of lurkdom. That and I am going to the Prada store today to see if they have the Moto boot on sale.Hope to see you soon!!:-)

  • Randal: Thanks, now I will remove Bertha from consideration after your wise council.;-) Hey, I thought you would have some clever literary suggestion. Well, okay, some mild pressure, a cold compress and elevation. No that is for a sprain. Well, okay, no pressure.

  • I would call her Sandy. ;-)

She needs a Scottish/ Highlands name. Sandy is short for Alexander/ Alexandra. Befitting for an empress like doggie, no?

PS: LBR, will return to read posts when you have your new template. Serious. I spend so much time on the screen that by the time my fun reading comes around, I am already done for :-(

  • Miss Cavendish: I found this list of Scottish girl names and we are going through them to see if anything stands out.http://tinyurl.com/428acr

  • Shefaly: So lovely to see you. My new template will be up in early January. I am so sorry that I make you squint and wear out your lovely eyes.

She is indeed an empress like dog and she will no doubt be treated like royalty. Thank you for the suggestion!!!

  • Oh – she is adorable! My strongest recommendation is to start obedience classes as soon as she is old enough… Terriers tend to be strong-willed and chase things in the woods, so it is good if you can train her before her nature starts taking over!

I think Victoria is a lovely name – very royal! Or maybe Snowdrop.

  • You know my advice — puppy obedience classes for clever Westies!

  • Empress in French is Impératrice. Then you could call her Trixie.

  • LadyFi: I am absolutely going to enroll her in obedience school and there maybe more classes after that.As I have never had a dog I know nothing about them. Really, nothing. So, it should be a learning process for both of us.

I am loving everyones naming suggestions.Thank you!!! She is royal and she does have coat as white as snow.:-)

  • WendyB: The other Wendy had me thinking “Wendy the Westie” was a good name. What do you think?;-)

  • Mrs.C: So, are you saying that her full name would be Impératrice and that friends and family would call her Trixie? I am still loving Mae Westie.;-)

  • That’s the idea.

But Mae Westie is kind of catchy.

  • Mrs.C: We had talked about Maisy or Daisy. I like the idea of a small name for a small dog. But, Trixy is nice. All of our animals have had a “y” suffix.

  • SO, yes, I am at work watching puppy videos. And I am in love. Love. I want to get on the floor and roll around with those sweet babies!!!!!!!!! I can almost smell the puppy breath and feel their little sandpaper tongues~

  • KT: Aren’t those puppies too much? I am particularly in love with the video with the Spanish guy and his puppy. Soooooo cute!!!! Le sigh! Puppy breath!!!:-)

  • Naming advice? Pick something short (preferably one syllable — dogs usually respond better to one-syllable commands) and also something you won’t be embarrassed to be hollering out in the park if she does a runner.

Otherwise … what a cutie! I want one too!

  • Oooh! Just saw the Mae Westie name suggestion. LOVE IT!

  • Expateek: I did want short and sweet name. But, I also love the -”y” suffix. Good advice on the non-embarrassing names. My He-weasel’s suggestion du jour was ‘Sugar Monkey’ that is a name that I might be a bit embarrassed of.;-)
Thank you!! And, so lovely to meet you!:-)

  • KT: That’s a good one. Isn’t it?

  • Adorable and not shy!!
    Tres importante
    “Paris”
    ? ? ?

  • CarolG: Believe me, if a certain hotel heiress hadn’t soiled the name I would know for sure what this puppy’s name would be.

  • I am thrilled for you! I hope you *do* plaster lots of photos of her all over the blog–a Westie Wonderland would be adorable.

And names! Add me to the list of fans for Mae Westie. My other suggestion is Wynne, or Wynnie, which means fair or white or friend. Plus, it’s celtic, and it’s cutesy. Or, if you had to, you could be say it sternly, if you could manage to be stern with such a sweetie. It might sound something like this:
“WYN! Stop chewing the kitten shoes!”

Thanks for sharing the great news!

    K.

  • Kirie: I love that you said a Westie prayer for me. Very sweet. Every time I see the Cesar ad I think of your daughter.

Wynne, or Wynnie, are very good. I love the meaning. Westies are known to go after kittens. So, I best keep my kitten heels well out of her reach.;-)

  • I looked at the list of Scottish baby girl names… two names stuck out… Moira… I don’t know why… and Annabel… that one really stuck with moi! Did you ever see the Christmas movie Annabel… a cow that wants to be a reindeer and fly with Santa? I think it might be MY favorite animated Christmas movie. Anyway… Annabel finally gets her wish on Christmas Eve after MANY Christmas Eves pass… I thought it a fitting name… you wanted a puppy for Christmas and you are getting your wish!
Mae Westie is cute too… you spell it Mawestie French “my westie.”
However… I like my Christmas sotry better… LOL
BTW… I have lots of family in Missouri… would be strange if someone I know is connected to that puppy… hmmmmmm

  • She is so very cute!
I notice a typo as you begin today’s post, and I wonder if it’s an indication of what’s to come: rather than say you’re going to be “restrained,” you actually say “retrained.” Uh-oh! I’d say little Westie Weasel’s already got some plans . . .

  • SO excited for you! Man, those videos make me long to rub some Westie tummy.

  • ahhhh how cute. i am soooo jealous. yes, i would kiehl’s products for doggies are great. my friend use it for her pup.

  • Fifi:Moira is awful cute. I love the story of Annabel, but it does seem a smidge on the longish side.

I do love the Frenchification of Mae Westie. That is really good.

As soon as I find out what town my Westie is from I will let you know!
Thanks, Fifi. If it wasn’t for you there would be no puppy for Christmas.

  • My first thought was Pixie and I think my comment went the way of many others, but as she is a true princess and will be treated as such perhaps that is her rightful name? Princess….Princess where are you? Has a certain ring…Can’t wait for her first photo shoot next year, xv.

  • Mater: Thank you for the typo alert, or should I say thank you for making me aware of the unconscious knowing of what I am in for!?;-)

I fixed the typo but I don’t think it will change the retraining that Westie is planning.

  • Sal:Westie puppy! Westie kisses! Westie napping! Westie waking! I cannot wait for all of it.:-)

Savvy Mode SG:I am definitely going to get puppy a welcome basket of treats. Kiehl’s is going to be in that basket. Thanks, Savvy!

  • Vicki:Pixie is nice because she is magic. She will definitely receive the Princess treatment. Be sure that she will have a photo shoot and there will even be a puppy painting portrait. :-)

  • 1. Whatever you choose make it stylish, she looks like a stylish little lady. My suggestion is Bella

    2. Try not to spoil her too much. And if you figure out how to do that let me know
    3. I want one
    4. Why, from Scotland honey!Don’t worry, I am on the case.

  • Best name ever: Doodle poot.

  • You could call her ‘trognon’ which is French for adorable and the core of an apple (don’t know why).

She definitely gets the award for Most Innocent Looking. I am meeeelting.

I have no tips on raising dogs whatsoever. Mine is out of control, come sa maman.

  • Yaya: 1. She is a beauty.

    2. Even not having met her yet I am pretty sure I cannot achieve this goal.
    3. Once want turns into NEED the Westie will be yours.

    4. Well, she is a Scottish dog. Thanks!!! :-)

  • I would go for something French sounding, linked to fashion … Coco or couture … or maybe go with the Rouge part of LBR and call her Scarlett or Rosie?!?

Warmtha nd sound on her first night – the whole tick-tock of an alarm clock worked with ours. We never bothered with puppy food – we did dog food cut up smaller with hot water poured over it to make more gravy and then allowed to cool obviously – I’m such a dur! And training – puppy obedience class.

    Yes she is!

    Here – http://www.barkingmadclothing.co.uk/coatsandfleeces2.html and here -http://www.urbanpup.com/search.asp?strKeywords=tartan

  • Sarah: I am not telling He-weasel that name or for sure that is going to be her name. ;-)

  • Corine: That very well may be one of her nick names, as she will have many. Mon petite, mon cherie, et maintenant ‘trognon’! Merci!!!:-)

I do imagine that her innocent look will get her out of all kinds of trouble. Lucky her!:-)

  • Le laquet:I do like Scarlet. Is there a word for scarlet as opposed to red in French? I must look at a French thesaurus.

Really great tips. We have to buy a ticking clock. I only have digital clocks. Are the nutrients and fat content different in puppy food than adult dog food? I know for kitties it is. I am most certainly taking her to puppy kindergarten!

Thank you!! And, thank you for the links to puppy wear!! I am sooo excited.

  • I thought I left the first long comment today. I don’t know what happened. Oh well. She is adorable. You will love being a puppy’s mom so much. My advice is to do what you think is best for you concerning your relationship with your pup. There are different schools of thought about this as in child rearing. Note that I am a fan of attachment parenting :-) . That said, you are the parent and you will decide what is right for you and He-Weasel.

    I am thrilled for you.

  • Julianne: I had some trouble with spam last night and I put my blog on comment moderation to make the spammers go away. Well, I am not sure why but Blogger did not forward the comments that were left. I hate that!! Anyways, I am glad you came back.

I think there will be co-sleeping, a sling and responsive parenting. We are doing attachment puppy parenting.

Thank you! I am so excited and cannot wait for her arrival. My first dog!!!:-)

  • 1. Her name should be Coco or Lola!

    2. I recommend crate training and obedience school for every puppy–they do better with some guidance and a place of their own to go to. I’ve had dogs that sleep with me and run the house and everyone is happier when that doesn’t happen! No matter how much you love them.

    3. Isn’t she the cutest thing you have ever seen? YES YES YES!

    4. And, where can I get her a tartan puppy jacket? Burberry? There are many wonderful puppy boutiques online and I’m sure there are places in LA as well. Our little one has quite the wardrobe!

    Enjoy your fur baby!

  • Not sure about 1, 2, and 4 but YES YES YES to number three! xx

  • There’s too much pressure in the world as there is. I wouldn’t be much of a pal if I added some, now would I? See, wise. ;-)

  • 1. I vote for “Bonnie”!
    2. Crate training!!! It helps with housebreaking and will minimize any issues like anxiety separation.
    3. Almost, yes. ;-) (Ever so slight lead by my own pups!)
    4. Try Muttropolis.com

  • Hi ! So happy you are getting your puppy. It´s good that you get her at 8 weeks, this is an ideal age. I won´t suggest a name. It is for you and your hb to decide. Get to see and be with her a bit first. If you have carpets,I´d suggest you roll them up and store them until she is house clean. And keep newspaper on the floor for her for starters. We have dogs numbers 3 and 4 now, and by experience I can tell you, that it takes about one year to get adjust to a new family member. Good luck !

  • Her is just the purtiest thing. Oh, yes her is. Oh, yes. What a sweet baby. Oh, my goodness. Look at them widdle eyes. Come here to mommy…

    *sigh*

  • How exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have to pick a French name. I’ll have to think about that.
I’ve never had a cute little dog like that, only a big dopey one named Hubert.
I think you deserve this cute little thing, and YAY Fifi Flowers!

  • Fifi is fab! And I think you might want to consider these to names – Avery and Pretzels. My dog was called Avery and she was wonderful. And Pretzels is just adorable.

  • Suggestions:
Coco, Chanel, Chou-Chou (endearing term in french which literally translated is cabbage-cabbage), Minette, Noisette, Choupette, Filou, Fifinette, (the French really like to add -ette to the end of names to make them more cute and endearing)

  • 1. Wee Jockette (after the Westie on Hamish Macbeth)_
    2. Lock up your shoes – I kid you not – my new puppy (whippet) has chewed through 5 pairs of shoes! I have to tie the handles of the shoe cupboard closed so she can’t get anymore!
    3. Waaaaaaay cute!
    4. http://www.dog.com/item/traditional-blanket-coat/

So enjoy her – I love my dogs and wouldn’t be without them. I had a dog for 15 years before I had a child and he made an excellent child substitute, whilst not cramping my lifestyle like kids do. Shower her with all that love you have to give.

  • Name possibilities. It’s a principle of creativity that quantity begets quality, so I’m just going to toss out a bunch of name ideas for her and you can decide, Belette, if anything sticks:

    Ingrid
    Hannah
    Jezebel
    Delilah
    Musette
    Heidi
    Blanca
    Misha
    Masha
    Colette
    Jillian
    Anya
    Rosetta
    Tabla Rasa (ha, ha)
    Roverette
    Devon
    Doggie
    Mamaslittleyelper
    Le Pooch
    Le petit chien blanc
    No Name Pup

  • Fantastic!!! so pleased …I’m sorry but you have to call her Fifi or Celeste (second on is ref Barber the elephant)but please call her Fifi!

don’t do anything scottish for goodnes sake they call girls Morag!

  • LBR,

A couple of good things to note:

1)She will most likely whine a lot the first few nights at your house when you try to go to bed. It will be her first time away from her “pack” and she will be sad/scared/curious, etc. You have a few choices…you can either let her cry it out (it will stop in a few days), put her in bed with you (she’ll want to be there every night for eternity then) or you can purchase one of those stuffed animal dogs that has the mama’s heartbeat noise and put it in with her and see if that helps. Whichever way you go—the cries are heartbreaking.

2)Dog training experts recommend one to two syllable names maximum for a dog’s everyday name (obviously registered names are much longer). That way when you are training the dog to recognize her name or her name followed by a command she won’t lose focus. In light of that…

I like Belle–it seems very fitting. But Nora, Babe, Jules…are all cute too! Just my opinion…

You’re gonna love her. My “boys” are two very bright lights in my life!!!

    Happy Dog Parenting!

    ~Just Ducky

P.S….put all the pictures/stories up that you want about her! I love her picture already!

  • That is the cutest dog ever.

  • Oh, and don’t forget Madeline!

  • Fifi
    Blanche
La Miss (what French women call each other)
and you can add “Mademoiselle” before her name for her full title.

  • OMG, you are killing me with the video! Talk about cute overload, lol :)

Ok, I vote for either Coco or Bonnie….my 7yo DD suggests Snow or Vanilla.

Blessings upon that sweet puppy head and congrats to you again!!!!

  • 1. something French. v.v. French
    2. be patient
    3. ADORABLE
    4. Rodeo Drive? :) I have no idea but can’t wait to hear.
Big congratulations to you! And I think you’ve just inspired me to write a puppy poem. merci beaucoup

  • 7 weeks old! oh my gosh, she is so precious! i do hope you will post often about her, i’ll live vacariously through you.

doggie care? so sorry i can’t lend a hand as i’ve not owned a pet since i was in grammer school. i’m allergic, though i hear now it’s possible to adopt puppies that don’t trigger allergies… hmmm

if i come up with a name that i think is interesting i’ll definitely let you know… how about ‘amazingly cute and destined to be even more beautiful?’

what a wonderful way to start the new year. this is the best!

    bon week-end my dear

  • Jen:1. Those names are both going on the short list.

    2. I will do crate, and training but I fear I am going to be a person that lets the dog on the bed.

    3. My, what good taste you have!

    4. As soon as we get her we are taking her to Burberry.
Thank you for your wise advice!!!:-)

  • PrettyFace: Glad you like her. I think she is pretty.:-)xo

Randal: Thanks for being a pal!!:-)
    No pressure.xo

  • Deja Pseu:
    1. It is a fine name for a wee lass!;-)
    2. I am so scared to ever leave her alone. I think I am the one with separation anxiety.
    3. I certainly appreciate your loyalty to your two beauties!!!
    4. Ooh, a shopping place for puppies. Fun!!

  • Metscan:What I am planning on doing is a compiling a list of names and then when we meet our furry daughter we will see which name she likes.

We have carpets and so we were planning on carpeting our floor with puppy pads to begin with.

A year, huh? Wow! I don’t think it took near as long to adjust to our kitties.

Derfina:You do good puppy voice!!!! Love that about you!:-)

  • Corfu Cuz:I am absolutely over the moon. I even spent time with Igor today talking about our doggy daughter.

Fifi is the best!! I cannot begin to sing her praises enough. If it weren’t for her this wouldn’t have happened.

I am a fan of the -ette suffix as it is the same as Belette. I do like Coco but it does seem to be the Emily of the dog world. DO you think? I do like Colette.

K.Line: Fifi is a bloggers best friend. Really incredible of her to help as she has. I really like the name Avery. When I dreamed of having a human daughter I used to the name Ellery on my short list Nobody liked it but me. I also like Hillary. Avery, Ellery and Hillary. All great names. Pretzels seems like a boy dogs name to me. But, it is a cute name

  • Seriously, this puppy is so adorable. Waaaay more than most. I think you should go with a french name/word since you were just there for a while. What about Paris? Like Paris Hilton, but it would mean something?

  • Imogen:1.I do like the -ette sound. And,I feel sure that we will be calling her “Wee-Westie as one of her many nicknames. I think Inkey had over 30 nicknames. He answered to them all.

    2. I am not a person to always put my shoes in the closet when i am done with them. I am going to have to work on this behavior.
    3. Thank you!
    4. Thank you!!!!

This dog will be loved with all my might. I have a lot of love to give and this dog will get it. I feel sure it will fill a lot of the empty places in me.

  • Chris: I love your long list!!! SO sweet of you to throw out all your ideas.Colette and Madeline are my favorites on your list. I love some of your funny ones. Roverette is especially delightful.:-)xo

  • Make do: Fifi is a good one and it is a nice nod to the lovely woman who brought us together. But,I might then get the human Fifi and the doggy Fifi confused. I wouldn’t want to do that.;-)

Morag!? What is a Morag? Must google. Ooh, that is horrible. My puppy is no Nessie!
    xo

  • You MUST go crazy with pictures about your new lovely one. How completely adorable!

Naming her…I would just wait til she comes to you. The name will pop into your head. That’s how it was with all of mine….

  • Just Ducky:
Fantastic!!! This is the kind of thing I would have never thought of.

1)I will probably do a combination of your second and third suggestion. but I will also get her the heartbeat toy. Poor baby. Puppy cries break my hearts into bits.

2)I wanted her name to be short and sweet like she is. Belle is beautiful. If I was getting a boy too I might have done Nick and Nora.

Thank you so much for your wonderful suggestions!!And,thank you for the encouragement to post pics/stories. I am sure I will. There is even going to be video. I can hardly wait!!!
    xo

  • Leigh:Merci!!:-)

Frenchee Le Trip: Great suggestions! Fifi is a popular choice. La Miss is cute! I will definitely be adding “Mademoiselle” to her title just as I did with Inkey and monsieur.

  • K.L.R.:Tell me! The Westie puppy videos are unbelievable. I fell totally in love when I saw them in action. I am hopelessly in love. When I meet mine it will only get worse!

Coco is another really popular choice. Tell your DD that snow and vanilla are among the most popular Westie names. My He-weasel would really like to name her Sugar-Monkey. I won’t allow it. But, it is kind of cute.

    Thanks so much, K.R.L!

Irene:1. It does seem the way to go.
    2. I will do my best.
    3. MERCI!
    4. I cannot wait to take her to Rodeo Drive. There may be a movie of this event when it happens.
Thank you and I am thrilled I inspired a puppy poem. I can’t wait to read it.

  • L’air: Oh, dear one, there will be many puppy posts. Many!!:-)

I have read that Westies are non-allergenic and they don’t shed. So, perhaps if you enjoy virtual pet ownership( of my pups) you could get your own.

‘Amazingly cute and destined to be even more beautiful’is a fantastic name, a tad long but fantastic and certainly apt.;-)

Thank you and bon weekend to you!xo

  • Sassy: You don’t think people would assume I am naming her after the Hilton. I would hate that. Paris is my favorite place in the world so it would be lovely to have Paris so close to me wherever I am!:-)

  • Amy: I am going to take millions of pictures and I am going to make one of those Mac/Apple bound books of her puppyhood. I am soooooo excited. I am making a list of names( because I am a compulsive list maker and when I meet her I will run them by her and see what she thinks!:-)

  • Oh, I am sooooo excited for you! My two pups are named Kayla and Gus. I like people names for dogs. They usually make me laugh.

Just know – the first month is going to be tough…seriously like having a newborn baby. You won’t get much sleep. But it will all pass and you will be sooo happy with the lil darling.

Can’t wait to hear the stories!! Good luck!

  • Alison: Really? They don’t sleep much? I though puppies slept a lot. Well, I guess I can nap when she naps. I am not working so I can follow her schedule until she adjusts.

I cannot wait. I really feel like a kid about this. I have waited all my life to have a dog of my own. I am sooooo excited!!!
