He-weasel and I are huge OSU Beaver football fans. Well, actually, he is. And, as a way of showing my love for my weasel and my support for his team, I wear orange on game day. I don’t have a lot of orange; I have a few orange cashmere sweaters, scarfs, and a great J Crew orange felt skirt—but it is enough to show that I am a dyed in the wool Beaver believer. I even have a few OSU tee shirts, sweatshirts and even a OSU camisole that He-weasel bought me at the Kmart in Corvallis. He called the garment a “present.” I had another name for my beloved’s black and orange offering.
I thought, as we are just 24 days until the first pre-season Beaver game when OSU will devour Stanford, it would be a good time for me to show my sartorial support for my He-weasel’s team. And, as my He-weasel is a rabid fan he is always open to perusing Neiman Marcus for an OSU beaver orange handbag and is never interested in shopping when the handbag is any other colour. I assured him that if he got me the Salvatore Ferragamo Mediterraneo Nappa East-West Tote in OSU Beaver Orange the Beaver’s would win the Pac 10 conference and go to the Super Bowl. He quickly reminded me that the Beaver’s were not eligible for the Super Bowl. I then amended my prediction, if I got the bag the Beaver’s would go to the Rose Bowl and win it. With that answer He-weasel asked me to call Neiman’s to see if they could get me a East-West tote in time for kick off on the 28th.
Once I got him on board for the handbag I thought I would show him some other orange items that might help Mike Reilly reign supreme against the dreaded University of Oregon Ducks. I found these three little orange ensembles that would tackle even the thickest of linebackers. There are linebackers. Aren’t there?
I also found these little orange goodies that will help the Beaver’s get more home runs. There is this darling little Bouclé Mohair Lucille jacket in Benny the Beaver orange. I thought that the mohair was a better choice than the synthetic Benny the Beaver fur hat.
And, I thought these orange wellies from J Crew would be a great defense against fouls or at least foul weather. Don’t you agree???
So, what have you worn for the sake of love? Please share some of how passion has affected your sense of fashion? How has your significant other affected your attire?
Oh, and August 28th at 6 p.m. Pacific Coast Time on ESPN the OSU Beaver’s will be playing and defeating the Stanford Cardinals and I will most certainly not be wearing red. On the 28th I will be an orange weasel. I will be wearing my J Crew trousers jeans, an orange cashmere turtleneck, the orange wellies and the orange mohair jacket. Sitting next to me throughout the game will be my luck enducing Salvatore Ferragamo Mediterraneo Nappa East-West Tote in OSU Beaver Orange. Go Beavers!!!

This post confirms that you’re back.
I know Vince Ferragamo. Super Bowl XIV. There were linebackers there, too.
How has your significant other affected your attire?
“Are you ever going to wear anything other than a black t-shirt?”
“No.”
Not much!
Randal: It seems as if I am back. And, that you are always back in black tee-shirts(much to your wife’s delight).
Hee-hee, Vince Ferragamo. I bet Vince has some “Ferragamo” shoes and maybe even a man-bag.
My goodness. That back is INSANE. I think I now understand the context of the “I think I like the orange handbag at J.Crew” comment in an email a couple of weeks ago — but this, THIS is over the top! Congratulations, mon amie. Well done!
My husband tries to get me to wear color (notably blue), but I just don’t feel like myself in anything but color (red, coral, or pink) as an accent. You know how that goes. However, I love to take him with me when I’m looking for a “major” piece, like slacks or a dress because his advice is always just right.
It is so nice to have you back! And for the first time ever, for whatever reason, my blog reader (Protopage) picks up your feeds, which is doubly nice. Now I don’t have to check your blog separately from everyone else’s.
I’m sure that just being out of that infernal heat makes it easier to think about clothing and activity. You have much to look forward to in the coming months.

Marsi: I am so glad you like it. I am hoping some day that I get the Hermes Beaver orange handbag.
I do think men love blue for some reason. And, I do think, as a rule, men prefer colour. It is so nice that your husband has such great taste. My weasel’s taste has developed over time. In the early years it was not so good. He once got me a cotton turtleneck with whales on it.
It is so great to be back!!I am feeling like myself again.
And, yes, I had no interest in clothes, shopping or activities in Texas. Too hot!!!!It is so good to have my libido for life back.
I am so happy my blog is being cooperative and is showing up in your reader.
xo
A turtleneck with whales on it. Sounds very “Preppy Handbook” to me. My son had a yellow turtleneck covered in firetrucks that he loved to DEATH. I had to do laundry at night so he could wear it almost daily without interruption. Of course, the dear boy was TWO YEARS OLD at the time ….
Your weasel is a clever one, and a quick study. Lucky for you!

M: You got the exactly right image. It was the turtleneck from the Preppy Handbook. He has come a long way.
I am so happy to hear your son outgrew the firetruck turtleneck. I am sure you are too.

Go Beavers!! I’d buy that coat in a heartbeat if I wasn’t on a ban. So much nicer than all the OSU and Pi Kappa Phi sweatshirts my brother gifted me with back in the 90s.
Tell your husband the Beavers will win and that U of O sucks majorly. In fact, I remember my brother owning a shirt that said (NSFW) “Beavers may suck, but Ducks swallow”.
There’s an unfortunate visual for you.
Oh, and the only thing I have really won for love is a bowling ball. Good thing I like to bowl.
Wow, I seriously love that orange coat, and the bag is oh so nice. I have worn North Carolina State earrings as I am a Wolfpack fan. I know they haven’t done too well lately, but Philip Rivers is still the man, which means I am also a San Diego Chargers fan. And, a Northwestern Wildcats fan. So, come to think of it I don’t have a red or purple bag, which means I need a new one also. Hmmmm….
I would much rather comment on your blog than write on mine:-)
Kristen: That mohair coat would look amazing on you. I wish you weren’t on a ban. It is much better than a Beaver hoodie!
And, I am at a loss for words what to say about your brother’s tee-shirt. It sounds like appropriate attire for a college boy. But, I hope that he doesn’t wear it in Eugene!!!!
A bowling ball. I love how you count that as clothing!!But, I would say that wearing bowling shoes is an act of love.
Julianne: He-weasel is also a NW wildcat fan. But, I have no purple. There is a cute JCrew aubergine LS tee I have been considering.
I love you commenting on my blog. But, I love commenting on your blog too!!!!
The ball counts as an accessory! And I’m getting the bowling shoes for my birthday this month. Yup, I’m a dork.
I love orange! Great bag.
I’ve never worn anything sports-related. No one in our house could name a single professional athlete, so I’m at a loss there…
But my husband gives very good style advice, and I’ll always wear the dress he prefers if we’re going out.
Kristen: But, you are a cute and fashionable dork.;-)
Iheart: Orange is not a colour that people tend to be ambivalent about. I used to really dislike it–but as it became emblematic of my weasel I have grown to love it.
And, I so envy that you live in a sports free zone. We used to. It was only three years ago that he became a football fanatic.
Lucky you to have a husband with great fashion sense!!
Fabulous bag!
And how loyal you are to don an orange cashmere turtleneck in LA in August. But I fear even that may not stop the onslaught of Cardinal Red… :-p
Fab post! Your sentence “The dreaded University of Oregon Ducks” gave me the giggles. I imagined a university campus, full of ducks, who when they discovered an intruder in the midst, pulled out ozzees and went all silent like. Dramatic and dreadful!
And you know what I want to talk about in this fashion post don’t you? The wellies. They are fab!
Oh, and my husband would have me dressing like an Orange County Ladies’ Auxilliary Matron in coral and aqua skirted suits. I’ve managed to get him to give up all hope on that one. But he’s a nice man otherwise.
Somehow all this orange makes me want a popsicle. Or orange soda. Mmmm.
DP: Did you go to Stanford or are you just a fan of cardinal red?
So pleased that you stand firm against your lovely husband’s wishes for you to dress like a orange county matron. You are far too chic to look like a member of the ladies auxiliary.;-)
Sez: So happy to see you!!! I have missed you. And, let me tell you, you are the one who made me long for some wellies of my own. I still dream of your wellies with the peaches. Soooooooo cute!!!!
And, I love your vision of the U of O ducks. I read your comment to my He-weasel and he laughed so hard that he snorted. As much as he love’s the OSU beavers he hates the U of O ducks. He has carried his hatred of ducks to an absurd level–he hates rubber ducks, real live ducks and even duck pate’. The Beavers and Ducks, in the land of Oregon, are fierce football rivals. xo
WendyB: For the first Beaver game of the season I make an all orange snack selection for my He-weasel: Cheetos, cheddar cheese, orange soda, and orange jellybeans. One of OSU’s mottoes is: “We even bleed orange.” After an all orange meal it may in fact be true.
Well-played, La Bel, well-played.
I’ve been known to wear skulls for Mr.OM. I won’t tell you how or where.
It’s more what I’ve given up wearing than what I’ve agreed to wear – viz. Marc Jacobs patent bright blue flats with GIANT sparkly plastic star on the front. He was backing away and making the sign of the cross. I still wear them, but in secret.
Let me get this straight, you managed to get a Ferragamo handbag because your he-weasel follows the OSU Beavers? I bow down to your incredible creativity and handbag carrying excellence. One day I hope to follow in your footsteps.
ENC: I have imagining that you may have some pirate inspired La Perla. At least, that is what I am hoping.;-)
Jaywalker: Does CFO think that the Marc Jacob shoes harbor the devil in them, hence the necessity of spiritual intervention? Or, is it concern that you have been possessed by darker forces that would allow you to like such a shoe?;-)
And, if I got the new Marc Jacob mouse shoes I would ask you all to genuflect for me as it would be a sign of my own personal Apocalypse.
Cybil: Mwah-ha-ha!! Thanks! And the best part was that he seems to think it was his idea. I knew there was a way I could benefit from his Beaver fever, it just took me a few years to figure out how.
re Stanford: my dad’s an alum and we used to go to the games. Best, best thing about a Stanford game is the marching band at halftime.
DP: I would think that the best part of a Stanford game is getting to wear red.
Oh, and I am so sorry to say that the Beavers will beat Stanford. Mwah-ha-hahha!!!;-)
It’s so nice to see weasels in love, bonding through orange clothing and sports.
For love, I once returned a formal dress in green, to get a version in blue, because my DH once reviled all shades of green.
Your team will definitely win now! How could they not, with that glorious orange ensemble?
Christine
I wouldn’t have thought a weasel could like a beaver.
Christine: Thank you and thank you for your belief that my orange ensemble will give the Beaver’s the outcome that will assure me more fabulous orange handbags.
I think a switch from a blue to a green gown is an enormous act of love. Your hubby is lucky to have such a loving and accommodating wife. xo
Gervy: Weasel’s when domesticated are very pro-beaver. In the wild I am not as certain if that is true.;-) xo
HAHAHA!! I stumbled upon your blog and I find that I quite love it and am addicted to it…I spent the better part of the day reading all your posts. Excellent!
Paris is my favorite city as well…well tied with NY anyway and I’ve been living there for a year. Due to attending an English school my french isn’t fluent yet but I’m working on it and I find that I relate to your blog.
Of course head over to my page should you desire but I just wanted to tell you that you’re awesome and that your fashion sense is cool!!
Shoe Maiden: I am so glad you found my blog and I am delighted that you have enjoyed it. So sweet of you to say. I hope you visit often.
I look forward to visiting your blog!!
xo
So sorry for your loss v. Stanford, Belette and He-woozel. U of O plays tomorrow, I wonder if I can find green and gold couture before then? xoxoxoxoxo
Don’t hate me because I’m duckiful!
Karen: I was certain that you would have a comment about the unfortunate outcome of last night. I would wish you luck with the outcome of the game tomorrow but to do so would violate the terms of my marriage contract:
“Do you promise to have and to hold and to forever root against the Ducks?”
“I do!”
But, I do hope you find something lovely in duck green or yellow.;-)
xoxoxooxoxoxo
p.s. Don’t hate me because I am a Beaver babe.;-)
